Approximately 70 budgerigars and three eagle owl eggs have been stolen from private aviaries in Aberdeenshire last month.
On Monday April 27 three newly laid eagle owl eggs were stolen from a location in the Crudie area of Aberdeenshire.
And just a few days alter between April 30 and May 1, more than 70 budgerigars, some of which were prize winning birds, were stolen from another private aviary in Mintlaw.
All of the budgies stolen were tagged with a unique code on their right foot for identification purposes, H6010.
The police officer leading the investigation into the thefts, PC Alex Carle, said: “For anyone to have a pet injured or stolen is distressing enough but having an extensive collection of 70 birds taken has been very traumatic for the owner.
“If anyone is offered a budgie for sale or has information about this incident I would urge them to call us on 101.”
