An Aberdeen MSP has paid tribute to a resigning city councillor calling him “a dedicated public servant”.
Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart praised George Street/Harbour ward councillor Andy May who is stepping down for personal reasons.
He said: “Andy is a man who is dedicated to public service, from his time as a teacher, a head teacher and a ward councillor.
“He will be sorely missed.”
Mr May said: “It is with deep regret that I have to decide that now is the time that I must step down, I had hoped that I could continue for longer but it is appropriate that I go at this stage. It is time for new blood to come in and take on the seat of George Street/ Harbour.
“I could not leave the group at a better time when we have had two MPs elected from the group and a surge of new talent coming through the ranks.”
