Councillors today backed a long-delayed bid to expand a Buchan Village.
An application to build 19 new houses in Stuartfield, submitted by Fraserburgh firm Colaren Homes, fell through early this year over a roads dispute.
However the applicant soon resubmitted plans with amended drawings to ensure that the road meets the planning services standards and this morning members of the Buchan Area Committee unanimously approved the application.
The councillors had previously expressed a desire to see the project move forwards, if the roads issue could be resolved.
Speaking at the meeting, councillor Jim Ingram said: “I’d like to congratulate everyone for bring this forward so quickly.
“It was the concern of the committee that this could drag on and impact jobs.”
The development, on land next to Knock Street, could have created as many as 75 new homes over the next decade as part of a larger 23-acre master plan programme for the village.
The applicant has now resubmitted its plans with amended drawings to ensure that the road meets the planning service’s standards.
A mix-up where boundaries were on the site had led to the original error.
Reporting on the new plans, the council’s infrastructure chief, Stephen Archer, said that the houses were considered to be “acceptable”.
“The access issues have now been addressed,” he added.
