Councillors yesterday backed a long-delayed bid to expand a Buchan village.
An application to build 19 new houses in Stuartfield, submitted by Fraserburgh firm Colaren Homes, fell through earlier this year over a roads dispute.
However, the applicant resubmitted plans with amended drawings to ensure the road meets planning services standards and members of the Buchan area committee unanimously approved the proposal.
The councillors had previously expressed a desire to see the project go ahead, if the roads issue could be resolved.
Speaking at the meeting, councillor Jim Ingram said: “I’d like to congratulate everyone for bringing this forward so quickly.
“It was the concern of the committee that this could drag on and impact jobs.”
The development, on land next to Knock Street, could create as many as 75 new homes over the next decade as part of a larger 23-acre masterplan programme for the village.
A mix-up over the boundaries for the site led to the original error.
Following the meeting, central Buchan councillor Lenny Pirie said: “While I fully support additional housing and jobs, I believe in the future the developers, councillors and planners must work together to protect our communities and make sure we have the proper infrastructure in place for the safety of residents.”
