An Aberdeen dentist has been placed under a series of restrictions by a disciplinary panel.
Dr Chris Pumford – principal dentist at Dental Inspirations in Cults – appeared before the General Dental Council (GDC) earlier this month.
Mr Pumford, who has been qualified since 1995, has been placed under the conditions by the council’s interim orders committee.
The full extent of the allegations against him are unknown at this stage, but if he breaches any of the conditions he could be called before the council again.
Under the terms of the interim order, Mr Pumford – who opened the surgery in 2011 – must advise the GDC if he is working as a dentist within the UK, or applies for work outside, and provide details of his employer.
He is also expected to tell the council if any formal disciplinary proceedings are taken against him.
Any implant work carried out by Mr Pumford will be subject to indirect supervision, meaning he is required to have a meeting to discuss the work after it is completed.
The clinical supervisor may also be called on to submit a report to the council at a later date.
It is also Mr Pumford’s responsibility to disclose the council’s conditions to any prospective employer, local authorities and health boards during this period.
Last night, the practice said it did not want to comment on the council’s decision at this stage.
