A man suffered facial injuries after being attacked in Ballater at the weekend.
Police are appealing for information after the 48-year-old was assaulted by another man in the village’s Station Square at about 10.30pm on Friday.
Officers are keen to speak to three men who stepped in to stop the attack.
The culprit is thought to be in his mid-50s. He is described as being 5ft 8ins, of medium build with short brown hair.
Constable Joanna Copsey, who is investigating the incident, said: “It is believed that three men may have intervened to stop the assault continuing. We would be keen to speak to them in relation to our inquiries.”
