School pupils from an Aberdeen primary will be the first to take part in a newly-launched road safety scheme.
Children at Sunnybank Primary School will take part in a series of projects with local charity Absafe.
They will learn about the importance of road safety, and the dangers of speeding traffic around their school.
Funded by Aberdeen City Council and run in partnership with the police, Absafe will also take the road safety scheme to other primary schools throughout the city.
Emma Bellu, the charity’s chief executive, said: “We’re looking forward to launching the school road safety initiative with the pupils at Sunnybank Primary School.
“With road safety remaining a major problem across the north-east of Scotland, we have been working with Police Scotland and Aberdeen City Council to develop this new initiative as a way to engage and raise awareness of road safety with school pupils and their families.”
Eleanor Dickson, acting head teacher at Sunnybank Primary, said: “Keeping our children safe is something we work hard at every day. Absafe delivers this vital message to the pupils effectively and engagingly.”
