Two taken to hospital after ambulance crash on north-east road

Two people, including a paramedic, have been taken to hospital following a crash between an ambulance and a car on a north-east road.

Police received reports of an accident on the A93 Aberdeen to Aboyne road at Dinnet, close to the Dinnet Garage, shortly after 5pm.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed an ambulance responding to a 999 call was involved in the collision.

Both a road and air ambulance were dispatched to the scene and the fire and rescue service also had to cut one person from their car.

A paramedic and another person have now been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

It is understood their injuries are not life-threatening.

The road remains closed while the vehicles are being removed from the scene and firefighters make the site safe.
