Over a dozen firefighters were called to a fire at a block of student flats on Aberdeen’s King Street.
Emergency services were scrambled to the Mezzino apartments on the busy city centre street shortly after 5.30pm.
The road was closed by police for a short time while firefighters brought the fire under control.
Two appliances, a water rescue unit, and a support vehicle were still at the scene when police reopened the road.
The glass door was smashed and firefighters were pumping water into the building using a hose reel jet.
Crews extinguished the fire at around 6pm, but remained on scene until around 7.45pm to make sure the building was safe.
They returned at around 10pm to make sure the fire had not reignited.
It is not yet known what started the fire, but police confirmed it is not thought to be willful.
A police spokeswoman said: “Around 5.45pm on Thursday, June 1, officers received a report of a fire on King Street, Aberdeen.
“The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The fire is not thought to be willful.”
