A woman has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Peterhead.
Emergency services were called to the town’s Inverugie Road just before 5pm.
Police and paramedics raced to the scene.
An air ambulance was also seen landing at the town‘s Catto Park Sports Pavilion.
After being assessed by paramedics, the female pedestrian was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance for further treatment.
Her condition is unknown.
The road was closed until 10pm as officers carried out investigations at the scene.
‘Inquiries are ongoing’
A police vehicle remains at the scene in Peterhead this evening as inquiries into the incident get under way.
In an earlier statement, a police spokesman said: “Around 4.55pm on Friday, June 2, police received a report of a crash involving a female pedestrian and a vehicle on Inverugie Road, Peterhead.
“Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“The road was closed for around five hours. Enquiries are ongoing.”
