Emergency services were called to the accident involving a Hyundai i20 and a Honda motorbike on Wellington Road just after 5pm. The northbound carriageway of the road remained closed at the junction with Abbotswell Road until 7pm. An ambulance spokesman said they were called to the scene at 5.05pm. He added: “We did take one male to ARI with back injuries.” A police spokesman confirmed the motorcyclist was taken to ARI “with lower back pain”. He added: “The injuries are nothing life-threatening so far.” Meanwhile, a lorry that broke down near Tesco on King Street just after 3pm caused almost an hour of congestion on the city-bound carriageway. Another broken down lorry on the southbound lane of Trinity Quay caused over an hour of delays from 5.30pm, with traffic affected along Market Street. Another lorry suffered an engine failure on Mounthooly roundabout, near the junction with the Gallowgate, at 4.30pm. The vehicle caused further rush hour congestion until it’s recovery at 8pm.
