The countdown is on until a well-loved visitor attraction opens for the summer.
Stonehaven Open Air Pool will reopen on Saturday at 11am, with a fun-packed day planned.
Newtonhill Pipe Band will perform, while the pool’s dolphin mascot Splasher welcomes swimmers young and old for their first dip in the Olympic-size heated pool.
Aberdeenshire Council’s convener of education, learning and leisure Isobel Davidson will officially open the popular attraction, before an aqua disco gets underway.
Over the last few months, Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Swimming Pool have been hard at work sprucing up the facility, and installing new locks on the changing room lockers to make it more convenient for swimmers.
Aberdeenshire Council Aberdeenshire Council has also installed a new heat exchanger to keep the seawater at a balmy 29C, and recruited new lifeguards.
Mrs Davidson said she was looking forward to opening the pool for its 81st season, adding: “The lively opening ceremony is a great reflection of the effort and enthusiasm that allows the pool to continue to thrive.
“Once again the friends have been working tirelessly to make sure the pool is in the best possible condition for what we hope will be a fun and successful season for all involved.”
As well as being open throughout the summer for daily sessions, there will be added activities such as midnight swims for adults and kids’ fun sessions. To find out more, visit www.stonehavenopenairpool.co.uk
