A north-east after-school club has been reprimanded by care chiefs for a second time in less than a year.
This fresh criticism comes after a Care Inspectorate team paid a second visit to J.Puddleducks After School Club in Dyce.
In April last year, inspectors graded the centre – which can cater for up to 30 children of primary school age – “weak” for the quality of care and support it provides.
Now a new report has given the same grade and also rated the quality of environment at the service as “unsatisfactory”.
The inspectors also said policies for infection control, child protection and medication were in need of improvement.
The report noted: “Staff need to be fully aware of procedures to follow in emergency situations to ensure the safety of children.
“The manager should continue to build on the systems to monitor and improve all aspects of the service which will contribute to improving children’s experiences.”
Inspectors also found the service had made some improvements since last year, noting that it provides a “welcoming environment” for children and their families and that youngsters are “relaxed and comfortable” .
Speaking last night, the club’s manager says staff are committed to meeting the report’s requirements.
Millicent Edet said: “We have taken note of all the recommendations and requirements made by the Care Inspectorate and we are doing everything that we possibly can to make sure our services are improved and we offer the best possible care and service to our users.”
The Care Inspectorate has promised to closely monitor, and work together with, the service.
