A north-east cancer support charity is urging people to get behind their campaign to move to a new base in Peterhead.
Clan Cancer Support is vying for £5,000 from the Aviva Community Fund to make the move, but needs to backing of the public to make it to the finals for a chance to win.
If successful, Clan will put the money towards moving to bigger premises in Peterhead to support more people in the area who are affected by cancer.
And with just hours left until the vote closes, the charity’s fundraising manager Susan Crighton urged people to get behind them – stressing every vote would be a “massive benefit”.
“Throughout the month, we’ve already seen over 1,000 votes registered for Clan but we really do need every last one if we are to stand a chance of progressing through to the judging stage of the competition,” she added.
“At the moment, we currently open two days a week in Peterhead but we really want to increase this provision and if we are lucky enough to win, we would use the £5,000 to do just that.
“Moving to a bigger space in the town would allow us to increase our opening hours and support more people in the area with cancer. The money would be a massive help in purchasing furniture and paint for the new space, with any remaining funds being used towards expanding our therapies in Peterhead.”
The charity currently offers support and information every Wednesday and Friday at the Hot Spot in Peterhead, and also gives people a range of complementary therapies.
