Hundreds of music lovers are expected to flock to a music festival in Aberdeenshire this weekend.
Tickets are already selling fast for Pitmedden Music Festival, with the programme including folk, samba, brass, ceilidh and rock music.
There will also be a bouncy castle, free children’s activities and a beer festival, offering visitors the chance to sample a range of local craft beers and ciders and Fairtrade wines.
Last year, about 1,800 attended the family friendly event at the National Trust for Scotland’s Pitmedden Gardens, and organisers are gearing up for another successful weekend.
Festival director Angie Stemp said there would be “something for everyone”, and urged people to come along.
“It’s great that the ticket sales have gone so well, we had a massive success last year and this year looks set to be the same,” she said.
“We think many more people will be leaving it until the final week to buy tickets and so we are expecting a really big turnout. All the volunteers who have been working hard to organise the festival can’t wait for the gates to open, we have a fantastic line-up this year again.”
The fun kicks-off on Friday at 6pm, with popular Aberdeen band Outbox opening the event at 6pm. They will be followed by singer songwriter John Strachan, folk band Chaotica and pop rock band Voodoo Vibe.
On Saturday, the entertainment will begin at 11am and will range from a string orchestra to a samba band.
Craibstone Ceilidh Band will also host a family ceilidh, and the night will culminate with a performance by seven-piece Shetland folk rockers The Revellers.
The festival was granted charity status last year, and has been organised by the community. All profits go towards running arts events in the Udny and Pitmedden areas.
