A north-east art gallery is hosting an exhibition of works from renowned Scottish painters depicting scenes from across the country.
Aberdeen’s Rendezvous Gallery in Forrest Avenue has been staging the “Vistas” display of pieces by four prominent painters – all with some connection to the north or north-east – since June 6.
The exhibition ends on June 20.
The four painters are Ronald Smith, Malcolm McCoig, Allan MacDonald and Anthony Campbell, who have all previously shown at the gallery or have participated in its residency programme at Garyvard on the Isle of Lewis.
Mr McCoig was a former lecturer at the city’s Gray’s School of Art and depicts the Grampian mountains, Mr McDonald paints his beloved native Highlands, Mr Campbell is known for his seascapes of the North Sea while Mr Smith is well-known in the north-east.
Duane Meade has owned the Granite city gallery since 1976 and said the crop of artists would provide a variety of works.
He said: “Whenever any of these artists have exhibited the reaction from the public has been very, very good.
“This time three out of four of the artists have taken part in the residency programme where they go to Lewis on a temporary basis to really concentrate on their art.
“Allan is the newest and he’s a really powerful artist who makes his paintings really striking and just loves getting out there.
“It’s really a great bunch of artists, I’d encourage people to come along to the gallery.”
