Guests who thought they were attending a couple’s leaving party were given a unique surprise when the event turned out to be the pair’s wedding.
Robyn Clark and Mark Coughlan, of Aberdeen, invited their nearest and dearest to a farewell event at Mark’s parents’ house in Ellon, as they are emigrating to Dubai later this month.
However when the 50 guests arrived to the celebration, they discovered Robyn, 24, and Mark, 28, were tying the knot in the back garden.
Robyn, a procurement specialist, said: “Everyone was extremely shocked and confused when they arrived.
“If our friends were to be expecting any surprise they said it would have been us announcing our engagement on the day, not a wedding.
“It went down amazingly well and everyone was amazed that we had managed to pull it off without letting it slip.”
Robyn and Mark, a senior operations technician, had just eight weeks to organise the whole event after deciding to get married.
The couple were not engaged and told only close family members of their plans who helped them with their arrangements.
