A major 999 operation was launched last night after the accident on the A93 near Aboyne in the early hours of this morning. One other car containing four people was involved in the collision around three miles east of Aboyne, near Kincardine O’Neil. They were a woman in her fifties, a man in his seventies, a 68-year-old woman and a man also in his sixties. Paramedics took them to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but the victim died at the scene. It is understood he was travelling alone at the time. Crews were called to the crash at 1.10am today. Three ambulances attended with two fire engines, from Banchory and Aboyne, dispatched. The road remained closed for eight hours as investigators worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police confirmed the crash was fatal, but no information on the victim has been released
