A leading healthcare firm has announced that a north-east care home is set to close.
Last week the Press and Journal revealed that the Turriff Care Home was facing closure after a serious of poor inspection reports and a period of financial instability.
Now Four Seasons Health have confirmed the 54-bed home is to close.
A spokeswoman for the company said: “After careful consideration and consultation with Aberdeenshire Council and the Care Inspectorate, Four Seasons Health Care intends to cease operating Turriff Care Home.
“The wellbeing of residents is our priority, as it is for the Council and we will work closely with the Council’s Social Services team to ensure that the 30 residents and their families are supported to find suitable alternative placements with no disruption to their care.”
She said Four Seasons had “reluctantly” taken the decision due to a problem maintaining staff “of the right calibre”.
The home is expected to remain open while residents and their families make alternative arrangements.
Remaining staff will be able to apply to move to other Four Seasons’ sites.
The closure of Turriff Care Home follows a similar closure at Glenesk, run by rival firm Renissance, earlier this year. There is no longer an independent care home in the Turriff area.
