A construction worker was taken to hospital yesterday after he was injured at a new multi-million pound development in the centre of Aberdeen.
The man is understood to have been working on the site at the former Capitol Theatre on Union Street when he was hurt.
The casualty was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, arriving just before 10am.
He is believed to have suffered rib injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The Scottish Ambulance Service told us they were called to a building site.
“At 9.50am the man was taken to hospital.
“His injuries aren’t thought to be life threatening.”
The £35million redevelopment of the historic theatre began last year with work led by Knight Property Group, and is due to be finished by the end of the year.
The 75,000sq ft site will feature office space spread over seven floors, along with five levels of car parking.
Yesterday senior construction manager at the site, Alex Strath, said the incident was being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.
He said: “We’re still investigating the incident so just now it’s unclear exactly what’s happened.”
Mr Strath stressed that it was the first accident on the site since construction began.
