Pupils were encouraged to pursue a career in science and engineering when a mobile classroom visited their school this week.
The Lab in a Lorry programme has been based in Fraserburgh for the past two days, where it has been inspiring children aged 11-14 through interactive experiments.
The scheme transports three 44ft lorries to schools across the UK and Ireland, and is provided in partnership by the Institute of Physics and the Scottish Government.
Pupils from Fraserburgh Academy and local primaries took part in this week’s visit.
Last night, Fraserburgh Academy’s head of science, Stuart Cookson said the scheme had been well received.
“It has gone really well,” he added.
“We’ve aimed it as S1 and S2, taking them out in their classes to do free, practical tests.
“Since then, they have been asking more about the chemical engineering side of science and we have been able to offer them advice on what kind of careers they can do. It has generated a lot more interest from them.”
Charlotte Govan, a spokeswoman for the institute, said the lab, which is crewed by volunteer scientists and engineers, had been a “fantastic experience” for participating children.
“It generates excitement and curiosity in science by letting them explore experimental science for themselves with the help of expert mentors,” she said.
