On the Great Northern Road approach to the traffic pinch-point, the current 4pm-6pm bus lane will be expanded to 3pm-6.30pm on the bus lane. City councillors agreed the move in January following surveys which found buses were not just being held up during these times. Councillor Neil Cooney, infrastructure committee convener, said: “Bus lanes help to tackle congestion as well as improve public transport reliability. “Research carried out showed that extending the bus lane timings will stop buses from being caught up in traffic and improve journey times.” New signs have been put up on Great Northern Road to advise drivers of the new bus lane times.
