Gordon MP Alex Salmond has praised the Scottish Parliament for putting the “final imprint” on the Community Empowerment Bill – a bill that will offer “potential” and “hope”, he says, for people to take land into their own hands to make it work for them.
The Scottish Land Fund has already been used to back “great” local initiatives like volunteers taking over Strichen Lake, in his home village.
Now, he wants the new bill to extend to Scotland’s rivers, too – and to give anglers the right to buy if the opportunity arises.
