A thug who threatened and attacked his former girlfriend and a string of other people has been jailed.

Sean Laurenson previously admitted harassing and assaulting Ashleigh Murison, threatening two other women and a man and breaching his bail conditions.

The 28-year-old, whose address was given as HMP Grampian, appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday for sentencing.

Fiscal depute Anne Macdonald told the court Laurenson had, on various occasions between February 1 and 18, repeatedly turned up at his former partner’s home in Alexander Drive, Aberdeen, phoned her and threatened her.

On March 18, he shouted and swore at Miss Murison as well as Karen Kidd, Kerry Loveday and an unknown man at Nisa Local in nearby Hayton Road.

The court heard that Laurencek then grabbed Miss Murison by the throat, punched her on the head and body, threw her to the ground and continued assaulting her, leaving her with bruising to her throat and arms, and a cut and lump on her head.

Miss Macdonald told the court witnesses heard him say to Miss Murison: “Wait until I get you round the corner where there’s no cameras”.

Sentencing Laurenson to 22 months behind bars and six months supervision upon release, Sheriff Annella Cowan said: “You have an extremely long history of domestic violence, this was a nasty course of conduct and a nasty assault.

“There are programmes that are available to you, but that’s up to you.

“As far as I’m concerned the only appropriate sentence is a custodial one.”
