A three-year-old boy from Peterhead died after hitting his head on a radiator, it emerged last night.
Kyle Strachan suffered the freak accident at his north-east home on Monday.
The accident came as the toddler played with his older brother Mark, four.
Kyle’s aunt Ruta Gedgaudaite said: “Kyle was playing with his brother when he hit his head off a radiator.
“It all happened so quick. Sigute was there and is in a bad way. We all feel terrible.”
Kyle was rushed to Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital for emergency surgery but died later that evening.
It is understood Kyle’s mum Sigute, a carer, moved from Lithuania seven years ago and married Kyle’s dad Mark in 2013. The couple split last year.
A spokesman for the police said: “Police Scotland can confirm that officers are carrying out inquiries following the sudden death of a three-year-old boy from the Peterhead area.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are on-going. As with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
It is understood that the post-mortem will be completed today.
