A project which placed 30 miniature dolphins in libraries across Aberdeen in an effort to bring in more children has received UK-wide recognition.
The scheme proved a success as the library service gained an extra 2,500 members when they were on display.
It has now landed a silver award in marketing excellence from the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
Aberdeen City council’s convener of education and children’s services, Angela Taylor, welcomed the honour.
She said: “I am delighted that City Libraries has received this award for the very successful School of Dolphins programme last summer and it is wonderful to have the hard work of all staff recognised.
“This award reinforces our commitment to promoting library activities and services across the city, raising the profile of libraries in Aberdeen and listening to customer feedback to develop services and enhance our customers’ library experience.”
The scheme was held as part of the hugely popular Wild Dolphins project, which featured a trail of more than 50 sculptures set up around the city.
