This dramatic picture shows the moment a pensioner’s trip to buy a takeaway ended in disaster.
The woman’s silver Volkswagen Polo went out of control in an Aberdeen street and ploughed into railings.
The accident happened in Woodside Avenue.
The driver, who is thought to be in her mid-80s, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
It is understood she was treated for facial injuries.
It is believes the pensioner had been driving to a nearby fish and chip to buy food for her husband, who recently had an eye operation and was unable to drive.
Police and the ambulance service were called to the scene.
One witness said: “The railings are completely bent out of shape and the stone has been pushed right along.
“It’s a street where children are out playing and people are walking their dogs so it could have been a lot worse.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed there had been a one-vehicle accident in the street but was unable to confirm the extent of the driver’s injuries.
