A racist insult has been spray-painted on to the front of a takeaway in a north-east port.
China Town in Peterhead’s Ugie Street was targeted by thugs who painted a derogatory slogan on its shutters.
Last night, the vandalism was condemned by community leaders.
Sandy Allan, the chairman of the town’s community safety group, said that racism was “unacceptable”.
He said: “It’s totally unacceptable, but it’s something that, from our point of view, we haven’t experienced much of in Peterhead.
“It doesn’t create a good image of the town.”
Peterhead councillor Alan Buchan added: “It’s unacceptable. We’ve had a Chinese and Asian population working here for a long time and there’s never been any race hate or graffiti like this before.”
