The funeral of a heroic north-east fire chief will be held on Tuesday.
Station manager Colin Laing was reported missing from his home in Aberdeen last week.
Following a nationwide search, police found the 54-year-old’s body in the Bournemouth area on the south coast of England.
Mr Laing, who was based at Portlethen, spent more than 25 years saving lives at home and abroad – from battling the blaze at Ballater’s Royal Station in May to helping disaster survivors in some of the most dangerous regions of the world.
Tributes poured in for the veteran firefighter who was described as a “well respected colleague” who would be sorely missed.
A private ceremony will be held on Tuesday, followed by a celebration of his life at the Aberdeen Asset Management Suite at Pittodrie from 5.30pm.
