Motorists will face diversions when one of Scotland’s biggest agricultural shows returns for its 168th year.
Aberdeenshire Council will divert traffic to ensure the smooth running of the New Deer show on Saturday, July 18, and to keep pedestrians safe.
The A981 will be closed from New Deer to where the road joins the B9029.
From 6am to 6pm, motorists will be prevented from using the village’s main street and will instead be directed onto the B9028. From there they will be able to loop back into New Deer through Moss-side of Drum, or the A948 through Auchreddie Road.
The restrictions will also be in place on the Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, as will vehicle access to affected properties where possible.
Show organisers are promising a packed programme of attractions for the weekend, including displays and competitions.
The event boasts one of Scotland’s biggest horse shows, as well as the ever popular livestock categories.
A marquee dance on Sunday will close this year’s festivities with music from a Freddie Mercury tribute act.
