An Aberdeenshire skate park could finally become a reality after years in the pipeline.
Councillors have agreed to grant a lease of land at William Eddie Park, Inverbervie, so fundraising for the project can begin.
If the Bervie skate park committee succeeds in collecting the money required, the local authority-owned land would pass into its hands.
Councillor Alison Evison said: “I think it is a great project, the local community have been talking about it for a long time.”
Councillor George Carr added: “It is great that this is coming forward. This is exactly the type of thing we want to see.”
Inverbervie community Council member Carroll Evans, a longtime supporter of the scheme said the move was ” fantastic news”.
“I helped the Bervie skate park committee set up so I’m very glad to hear this news,” she said.
“A skate park is very much needed in Inverbervie and it’s great that there will be a place for older kids between 12-18 to go.
“The Bervie skate park committee has been fundraising for this since it was set up and members have done bag packing, car washes and comedy nights, so hopefully they’ll get the money they need soon.”
