The Aberdeen youngster has Down’s Syndrome and was born with no hip socket, meaning she was in severe pain and forced to use a wheelchair. She underwent surgery last year, which involved having a titanium rod inserted into her back to lengthen her spine. Today she took some crucial steps. Her mother, said the progress she has made is beyond belief. Two years ago 14 year old Caitlin Studd couldn’t walk and has had several major surgeries, Ros Studd, 54, said: “Walking is something I never thought my daughter would be able to do. “But as time has gone by, especially recently, she has been improving so much which is just wonderful to see. “She can’t wait and wants to make everyone proud of her.” Caitlin was joined by friends from the Castlegate Theatre Company, who her mother says have been a huge support for her daughter. She said: “The theatre group is the highlight of Caitlin’s week and they are all great with her. “She even has a role in their next production and she knows everyone’s lines and all the songs off by heart.” Walking the lenth of the Beach Promenade are from left: Alex kelman, Anna Seaman, Caitlin Studd and Malita Leel
