A law firm in Aberdeen will donate funds to help set up the north-east’s first dementia centre.
The Law Practice, solicitors and estate agents, will pass on all profits from making up wills during the summer months to Alzheimer Scotland, which is setting up the new base on King Street.
It will act as a drop-in centre for anyone seeking information on the condition, as well as a meeting point for people with dementia and their carers.
Margaret Waldron, owner of the Holburn Street law firm, said: “Dementia can be a challenging condition to live with, both for the person with the diagnosis and their family too.
“There is an appropriate link with ourselves as solicitors because it’s important that everyone plans ahead.”
Sarah Geoghegan, policy and engagement manager at Alzheimer Scotland, welcomed the news.
She said: “We’re delighted that the Law Practice has chosen to support our new resource centre in Aberdeen.
“It will be a vital point of contact for people with dementia and for their families to receive information and support.
“We want to help people with a diagnosis to live well with their dementia and maintain a full and active life for as long as possible.”
