For Fraserburgh man Neil Mair, graduation is not the end of his time at Robert Gordon University (RGU) as he plans to return there for a masters degree in a year’s time.
However, yesterday he took the first step towards becoming a fully-fledged architect as he graduated with distinction.
Mr Mair spoke of his relief at reaching this stage.
He said: “I knew from the onset that the course would be extremely challenging.
“The highlight of my degree was being able to present my work to professionals in the field.
“I have acquired a whole range of new skills over the past three years, some of which are specialist and some of which are more related to organisation and time management.”
He has already embarked on a year-long placement with Edinburgh-based Comprehensive Design Architects, which is proving an enjoyable experience.
He said: “It’s excellent, there’s a big office and they work on a huge number of developments from gardens to multi-million-pound ones all across the UK.
“It’s a great experience, several graduates have started alongside me so it’s easy to fit in.”
