A north-east family hoping to raise £40,000 to mark their 40th year in business are well on their way to reaching their target.
Family jewellers Sinclairs, in Inverurie, is celebrating its 40th anniversary by trying to raise money for charities Befriend a Child and Clan Cancer Support.
And in just four months, the family have raised £12,000 – 30% of their goal.
In March, a team from the business tackled the Run Garioch 10K, popping £3,110 into the pot.
Hundreds of people enjoyed a fashion show and afternoon tea at Meldrum House Hotel in May, raising a further £6,000.
Inverurie-based William Lippe Architects – which marks its 30th anniversary this year – has also thrown its weight behind the campaign, doubling the total.
The firm bought two Raymond Weil watches from the jeweller and auctioned off the timepieces at its recent celebratory dinner and dance. With both going for an impressive £2,000, the decision was made to donate the money to the Sinclairs’ fundraising effort.
Ian Sinclair said: “To have nearly £12,000 raised so far is fantastic and I’d like to thank all those who attended the fashion show and afternoon tea event.
“I’d also like to say a special thank you to William Lippe and his team. Their donation was completely out of the blue and is again another fantastic example of how local people are really getting behind our fundraising efforts. To have this level of support already is great and will be a massive help in our quest to raise £40,000.”
The next fundraiser will be a charity golf day at Meldrum House Golf Club on August 27.
Teams will enjoy lunch before competing in a round of golf, with a barbecue and raffle to follow. Various prizes will be awarded. Team spaces are still available, call Carol Mackie on 07415 660324 or e-mail sinclairs40th@hotmail.com
Tickets are also on sale for the jeweller’s 40th anniversary ball at the Thainstone Exchange on October 31. For more information visit www.sinclairsjewellers.co.uk
