A 25-year-old Aberdeen man has been jailed for three months after admitting to fighting with police officers at T in the Park.
Jamie McLennan had claimed he was sexually assaulted during this year’s music festival at Strathallan Castle Estate in Perthshire.
He repeated the claim today as he appeared in court to admit brawling with officers during the festival.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that McLennan had attracted police attention because he had been acting strangely on the festival site.
Fiscal depute Tina Dickie said: “Police were made aware of his presence because he was acting strangely and it was immediately apparent he was severely under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
“He initially made the allegation that he had been sexually assaulted and began acting very erratically, which caused police concern. They took a hold of him to prevent him running off.
“He was doing anything he could to attract the attention of passers-by. Medical staff intervened and deemed it appropriate to take him to the medical tent.
“However, his ongoing behaviour made it impossible. He became aggressive and was struggling with police officers so he was taken to the police station. On the way he was kicking the cage and making threats.”
McLennan of Faulds Wynd, Aberdeen, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at T in the Park on 11 July. He admitted struggling with police officers and threatening them.
Solicitor Keidra Morrison, defending, said: “This would appear to be a rather distressing situation he found himself in. His father received calls from him at the event stating he had been sexually assaulted.
“When police did see him he was frantically looking for his friends. He was obviously distressed. He apologises for his behaviour, but you can see the reason behind it.
“In relation to the allegation, there are matters that are still to be investigated in relation to that,” she said.
Sheriff Kevin Veal noted that McLennan had only been freed from jail two weeks before T in the Park and he sent him back to prison for three months yesterday.
