The ceremonial head of the north-east’s premier summer gala looked back on an “absolutely amazing” event as this year’s programme came to a close.
Peterhead’s Scottish Week drew thousands of people to a week of family-friendly events.
The gala ended last night with a special Songs of Praise concert in the town’s Salvation Army Hall.
This year’s honorary Buchan Queen praised the festivities.
Shauni Bremner, who works in a local care home, said: “This week has been so busy but absolutely amazing. I can’t believe that it’s over.
“We are well are truly exhausted. I will have to have a week’s holiday to recover but it was so worth it.”
The 23-year-old added: “The best part of Scottish week would have to be the sandcastle competition because it was a cracking day and there were so many kids there.”
The Buchan Queen and her two elected princesses, Kimberley Kaminiski, 21, and Suzanne Walker, 18, attended dozens of community events over the past seven days.
These included the annual parade through the town-centre on Saturday afternoon, as well as the raft race and bay swim which took place at the town’s Lido on Thursday in front of thousands of spectators.
Beyond the pomp and ceremony, the week was filled with family activities including a treasure hunt through the town.
Scottish Week has been held in Peterhead every year since 1961 and attracts thousands of visitors.
Similar galas in towns and villages across the country have gradually died out and it is now the only one of its kind.
