Two OAPs were taken to hospital yesterday following a two-car crash on a busy Aberdeenshire street.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance crews were called to the accident involving a grey Nissan Note and blue Saab on Harlaw Road, Inverurie, at around 1pm yesterday outside Autoparts.
The man who was behind the wheel and his female passenger were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the crash.
The woman was described as being in a serious condition when emergency services arrived, but she was made stable before she left the scene.
The pair’s condition was not known last night.
Locals described hearing a “massive bang” as the Nissan collided with the Saab, which was parked outside the Autoparts store, around 1pm.
The car is understood to have been on Harlaw Road since Friday night and had a “police aware” sticker on it.
Resident, Grant Barbour, 38 said: “I heard a bang but didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t until I saw the traffic coming down the road that I knew something had happened.
“I know one of the cars had been there from a few nights before.”
One Autoparts employee said he ran outside immediately when he heard the crash.
He said: “We were working at about 1pm-ish and there was a massive bang and the other car had collided with the blue one which was already sitting on the side of the road.
“The man was talking. The lady wasn’t speaking.”
A police spokeswoman said: “One of the vehicles had two elderly occupants, a male driver and a female passenger. The female was looking serious but was treated on scene.
“I think one vehicle had previously been involved in something and was stationary.”
An ambulance spokesman said: “We sent two ambulances and a doctor.
“The patients were taken to ARI.”
Two fire and rescue teams from Inverurie and Insch were also sent.
A spokeswoman for the service said: “We just stabilised the vehicles and made the scene safe.”
The road was closed for several hours following the accident.
Elsewhere a grey Ford Fiesta and a white Mini Cooper crashed on the Charleston flyover, on the northbound section of the A90 Dundee to Aberdeen road at around 1.10pm yesterday.
Two people were seen to by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
