Northsound 1 DJ ‘Greigsy’ is stepping down after 23 years of hosting the radio outlet’s breakfast show.
Greig ‘Greigsy’ Easton will leave Northsound 1 breakfast but remains with Bauer Media and is set to host Sunday to Thursday from 7 -10pm in Scotland.
He broke the news to fans on Facebook saying: “After almost 10 years of my alarm ringing at 4am and looking like a zombie from teatime onwards, I am stepping down as host of the Northsound 1 breakfast show this week.
“It’s been a pleasure to be the longest serving host of the show!
“Time for a long lie…spend mornings with the family and time for something exciting and new.
“Time to say hello to the nation.”
Micky Gavin will be the new breakfast show host on Northsound 1, moving from Tay FM where he is currently Content Controller.
Former Heart / Real Radio breakfast team Ewen Cameron and Cat Harvey are joining Bauer for a new Scotland-wide Sunday morning show.
The changes will come into effect from August 3 with the Ewan and Cat Sunday show launching Sunday August 9 and Stu Tolan, Griegsy and Michael from August 17.
Greigsy has worked in radio since 1992, his father was a DJ, so it’s in his blood.
Aberdeen born and bred, he used to work for a few local newspapers before he started presenting.
His job was to edit pictures, often to remove anything offensive.
According to his Northsound website bio “In his spare time, Greigsy loves watching movies with his lovely wife and two children.”
