Prosecutors alleged that over the course of four years Jennifer Whyte lied to the authorities, claiming she was living on her own. They state that during this time she was actually living with her husband Richard Whyte at 36 Cummings Park Crescent, Aberdeen. It is alleged that between September 20, 2010, and April 19, 2012, Whyte took a total of £7,875 in income support she was not entitled to. She is further accused of fraudulently taking £14,567.20 in housing and council tax benefits. Whyte’s case called before Sheriff Edward Savage at the city’s sheriff court yesterday where a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. She will return to court later this year.
