A walkway through a scenic Mearns woodland has been given a new lease on life thanks to the work of a group of craftsmen.
Workers from Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) have rebuilt the steps on a footpath through the popular Dunnottar Woods, in Stonehaven.
Around £10,000 was invested by FES with the project taking four weeks to complete.
Dan Cadle, FES’ recreation forester for the area, said: “The steps on the trails were first installed some 20 years ago and were showing signs of their age. I am pleased to say these new steps should last another 20 plus years.
“Replacing these steps enable the people of Stonehaven to continue to enjoy using all the trails in the woods.”
Dunnottar Woods is home to such historical sites as the Gallows Hill burial mound and Lady Kennedy’s bath.
