It is a truth universally acknowledged that a classic novel will one day be adapted for the stage. And now Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice is being given an al fresco treatment as well.
Visitors to Crathes Castle on Friday, August 14, will be able to enjoy a fresh air adaptation of the airs and graces tale of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy.
Director Rebecca Gadsby said: “I am delighted to return to Pride and Prejudice this summer, which will be my fifth time of directing this adaptation. The story and the setting suit the stately home environment perfectly and the story translates well to the open-air stage.”
The castle’s events coordinator, Hazel Morrison, added: “Join us for what promises to be a splendid evening as you picnic under a beautiful summer sky and lose yourself in this unforgettable love story.”
Visitors are reminded that it is an outdoor event and to come prepared for all weather conditions. Dogs are not permitted.
Doors open at 5pm and the performance begins at 6.30pm. Tickets are limited and can be booked in advance at www.nts.org.uk.
