A major Aberdeenshire road has been blocked due to a lorry on fire this afternoon.
Police and fire teams were called to the scene of the blaze on the A90 about a mile south of Stonehaven at 2.30pm.
The A90 southbound has been closed, and traffic is currently being diverted to the A92 coastal route with witnesses reporting major delays. The northbound carriageway has been reduced to one lane.
Three fire appliances were sent out to extinguish the fire.
Police have said that the fire started in the cab of the lorry.
The cab has since been detached to prevent the fire from spreading to the vehicle’s load.
The blaze is still ongoing, and fire teams have now brought thermal imaging cameras to the scene to better understand the source of the flames.
UPDATE: The fire was put out at 3.25pm, just under an hour after emergency teams were first called.
The only remaining lane closed is the left-hand southbound lane, as fire teams ensure the situation is completely under control.
