A man involved in a serious north-east crash at the weekend has today died in hospital.
John Stevens, 30, who lived in Aberdeen but was originally from Houston, Texas was left in a serious condition after the silver Porsche 911 GT3 he was driving collided with a grey Toyota Hilux on the B976 Birse to Finzean road, near the Finzean Old School junction around 7.10pm on Saturday night.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the driver of the silver Porsche, who was seriously injured following a collision on Saturday, 1 August, 2015, on the B976 Birse to Finzean road died in hospital today, Thursday, 6 August, 2015.
“He has been named as John Stevens, 30, who lived in Aberdeen but was from Houston, Texas, USA.”
The road was closed for over nine hours and police inquiries into the crash are continuing – anyone who may have information is encouraged to do so by contacting police on 101.
