Fire crews have battled their second blaze this year at a north-east industrial site.
A mechanical digger at the scrap yard at Fraserburgh’s Denmark Street burst into flames at about 12.10pm yesterday.
Firefighters worked for 40 minutes to extinguish the flames.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “We were alerted to a digger on fire at the yard at 12.10pm on Wednesday.
“Firefighters used a jet and a set of breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.”
A spokeswoman for the police added: “We were told about a fire in the Denmark Street area of Fraserburgh. The Scottish Fire
and Rescue Service were there and brought the incident under control.”
Earlier this year, on the same street, fishing gear that had been left out in the open was destroyed in a fire at a neighbouring property.
A spokeswoman for the fire and rescue service said the incident, which was reported just before 8am on Monday, June 8, was not being treated as suspicious.
A nearby business owner said the emergency was dealt with in about an hour.
