The Scottish Highland Games have become some of the most popular and immersing events in the entire world, with locals and visitors alike, counting down the days.
As The Games have become better known over the years, they have experienced increased fame and popularity.
With the season in full swing, here’s a look back at some of the familiar faces who have visited the games over the years.
Billy Connolly’s time living in Candacraig house at Strathdon definitely contributed to the celebrity appeal of the Lonach.
Braemar
1981
The picture above shows (left to right) The Queen, The Queen Mother, The Prince of Wales and Princess Diana.
The Braemar games have remained a favourite among the royals due to it being a short distance from Balmoral Castle.
2014
Queen Elizabeth II was pictured at Braemar once again last year and the royals have continued to visit the games since Queen Victoria first attended in 1848.
Lonach
The Lonach gathering in Strathdon has dramatically increased in popularity after an influx of celebrities have attended over the years.
1999

2001
Robin Williams was a regular at the games and was pictured here in 2001 after participating in the four-mile hill run.
2003
Sir Sean Connery made an appearance in 2003 as a guest of Billy Connolly.
2011
Dame Judi Dench is pictured above styling some traditional tartan.
Ballater
2014
Last year Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall met up with Camilla’s daughter, Laura Lopes, and her children at the Highland Games.
Both Charles and Camillia raised a glass to celebrate Ballater’s 150 Highland Games.
Dufftown
2015
Bill Martin, songwriter to stars such as Elvis and Cliff Richard attended this years Dufftown Highland Games in July.
