A north-east equestrian club has put out an urgent appeal for volunteers.
For more than 30 years the Buchan branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) has offered opportunities to adults and children with special needs.
Now the organisation is inviting horse riding enthusiasts to saddle up and help the group’s good work continue.
Juliette Norcott, RDA Buchan branch secretary, said: “Like a lot of voluntary organisations we struggle to maintain our volunteer base. We’ve got a core of people who come regularly, but we’re really trying to increase our numbers.
“You don’t need to be familiar with horses or disabled people – there’s no rocket science behind it all. It’s for someone who is looking to do something really worthwhile once a week.”
On Tuesday, September 8, the RDA is hosting an hour-long taster session for potential volunteers.
Riding sessions take place during school term time on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ladymire Equestrian Centre near Ellon.
Most are held indoors, but on good days the club takes clients out on local treks.
Mrs Norcott added: “It’s so worthwhile. Some of our clients see it as a form of therapy. We’ve even had instances of people who don’t speak, but will speak to the horses.”
