Vehicles rushed to the scene of the former Tarts and Crafts community café on Eigie Road Balmedie at around 11.20 pm after being alerted to the fire. It was the second blaze reported at the site since the former cafe, staffed by volunteers, was targeted by fireraisers on July 23. Thousands of pounds worth of damage was done to the building in the attack. Last night, four appliances and a height vehicle fought the flames for about an hour, using hose-reel jets to extinguish it. Nobody was injured as a result. A fire service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at of a fire at a disused café at around 11.19pm. “There were two appliances from central, one from North Anderson Drive and one from Ellon. “Nobody was hurt as a result.“ The café used to host art exhibitions and was staffed by volunteers. It closed on July 18 after 11 years in business.
