The second fire in two months at a disused north-east community café is being treated as suspicious by Police.
Fire crews were called to fight a blaze at Tarts and Crafts c on Eigie Road Balmedie at around 11.20 pm after being alerted to the fire.
A police spokesperson said: “We are treating this fire as suspicious and would ask members of the public with information to give us a call.”
Last night, four appliances and a height vehicle fought the flames for about an hour, using hose-reel jets to extinguish it.
Nobody was injured as a result.
A fire service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at of a fire at a disused café at around 11.19pm.
“There were two appliances from central, one from North Anderson Drive and one from Ellon.
“Nobody was hurt as a result.“
The café used to host art exhibitions and was staffed by volunteers.
The July incident took place between 9:15pm-9:45pm on Thursday July 23 at the former ‘Tarts and Crafts’ on Eigie Road.
Damage of a four figure sum was done to the building.
Police are still appealing to members of the public for information.
PC Lauren Tate, who is investigating the crime, said: “This incident happened late on in the evening and we’re appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or has any information to come forward.”
