Hundreds of glam rockers fans from across the world descended on Fraserburgh at the weekend to let the good times roll.
For one night only, Rollermania returned to the north-east as the outfot once described as the biggest since The Beatles took to the stage for a night of charity fundraising.
The Bay City Rollers, with lead singer Les McKeown, had ironed out their tartan trousers and wowed a packed Fraserburgh Leisure Centre with people from as far as Georgia, USA, roaring cries of approval at the 70s icons.
Proceeds from the concert will now be donated to Clan Cancer Support.
Last night, organiser Ronnie Arthur said fans from all over Aberdeenshire and beyond had turned out to relive classic tunes they had grown up listening to – including hits Bye
Bye Baby, Give a Little Love and Shang-a-Lang.
He said: “It was a fantastic night and everyone enjoyed themselves – everyone has been saying how good it was. There’s never usually anything like this up here, to get quite a well-known band in Fraserburgh.
“We had people from USA and one of them had never seen them or been in Scotland before, she had a ball of a time. We had about 1,000 there – it was packed.”
Mr Arthur, a director of Peterhead’s Buchan Community Radio, added that he was now facing the possibility of having to organise a fundraiser every year.
“We just wanted to do a big music event and were looking through Facebook when we saw Clan Cancer Support. We just thought we’d ask them if they wanted to take the opportunity to make some money,” he added.
“We haven’t got an idea of how much money was raised, but we should in the next few weeks. Everyone is asking if we’re doing anything next year, and I’m sure we will.”
Along with the former teen sensations, the nostalgic night of music also featured pop acts Paper Lace, Hazell Dean and Black Lace.
